News from St. Paul’s – Week of September 21, 2014

Invitation to Prayer
Our Christian sympathies and prayers go out to the family and friends of Dennis Arnold, who passed away on September 11. Dennis was the brother of Cheryl West and Linda Dovel.  A visitation was held on September 16 in Plattsmouth, NE. Funeral and burial arrangements are pending.

Installation of Sunday School Teachers – September 21, 2014 – Join us as we install the 2014-2015 Sunday School teachers and staff. We thank them for sharing their time and talents and keep them in our thoughts and prayers as they nurture the faith of our youth through out this coming year!

Lutheran World Relief Project! // Now through October // Personal Care Kits // The Women of the ELCA are collecting personal care kits for Lutheran World Relief. Please include the following items:
1 light-weight bath-size towel (20”X40” to 52”X27”) Dark color please.
2 bath-size bars of soap, any brand, original wrapping—4 to 5 oz.
1 adult-size toothbrush in its original wrapping.
1 sturdy comb (no picks or fine-toothed combs) remove packaging.
1 metal nail clippers (attached file optional) remove packaging.
Collection baskets & information sheets are at the entryways & in the Upper Room. // Completed kits can be wrapped in the towel and secured with a string or ribbon.

American Red Cross Bloodmobile // Cookies and Volunteers needed! Sign-Up Sheets located at the INFO Tables! // Cookie Donations (approx. 40 dozen) by Thurs. Oct. 2– please bring to the church kitchenette by 9am or Prichard Auditorium by 10am. // Canteen Workers – Thurs., Oct 2 10am-6pm and Fri., Oct. 3 8am-3pm. Please indicate the hours you are available.

Eli is blind, unable to communicate, crawl, walk or talk and there is no known cure.

Thank You!
…to all those who helped with the “God’s Work. Our Hands.” congregational project. Fleece-tie blankets were made and will go to help those in need in our area. Delicious food and wonderful fellowship was enjoyed during this day of service!

Congratulations!

Please join us as we welcome the newest members of  St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran, Kase Thomas Schawang and Cabe Ryan Peña Marquez, into the body of Christ. Kase’s parents are Korey and Alysia Schawang. Cabe’s parents are Alysia Schawang and Randy Marquez and stepfather Korey Schawang. Please keep Kase, Cabe, and their family in your prayers!

Prayers Requested

This year’s NE Synod Youth Mission Trip participants are Chelsae Campbell, Shane Campbell, Ryan Chab, Lindsey Duerfeldt, Brady Lotter, Dayton Mellage, and Dylan Sutton , along with adult sponsors Stacey Duerfeldt, Mark Gill, and Pastor Andrew. We invite you to pray for all those affected by the storm, as well as all of us who are traveling to serve our neighbors in the NY/NJ area.

  • The Mission Endowment Board is pleased to announce that we have already exceeded our goal of $2,000 in the Endowment Challenge, bringing the balance of the Fund to an estimated $201,000! Congratulations!

  • Our congratulations go out to Luke Sayer and Rachel Keller who were married on Saturday, June 27. Please keep them and their families in your thoughts and prayers as they begin a new life together.

Ways to Serve

  • Home Delivered Meals— Many Volunteers still needed! St. Paul’s is in charge of delivering meals to area seniors the 1st two weeks in July (Monday, June 30  through Fri., July 11; no meals delivered on July 4). There are 2 routes and we need a driver and a runner for each (or 4 people a day). Pick-up time for the meals is at 10:40am. Please take time to work this community service project into your summer schedule.
    Sign-Up Sheet is located on the INFO Table in the Upper Room!
