First Christian Church- Cobblestone Festival Food Stand– Aug. 22!  Please join us for lunch in our air conditioned basement! The menu includes beef burgers, hot dogs, chips, blooming onions, homemade ice cream, pop & water.  The stand will open up just before the parade and conclude when sold out.

Benefit for Tami Feek – Saturday, August 15, 4-7pm at Prichard Auditorium // BBQ Pork, Sides and desserts // There will be an auction & raffle // Freewill offering // Proceeds to help with medical expenses. Tami was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer in early 2014, and it was found to have moved into her bones in late 2014. She is traveling to Omaha for treatments, as well as Houston. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!  Additional funding provided by the Southeast Nebraska Chapter of Thrivent Financial (#30265).

Spirit of Brownville // Thrivent has reserved the Spirit of Brownville for Aug. 2 from 3-4pm for Thrivent members who would like to ride the boat. There is room for 150 people on a first come first serve basis.  A sign-up sheet will be in Upper Room or call 757-746-6660 or email at jjenkins@agjunction.com. Sign-up deadline is July 29.

Festival of Tables Recap // Thank you to everyone who donated their time, salads, auction items, or their talents for the Festival of Tables and Silent Auction. It was a huge success again this year.  Proceeds from the Silent Auction were $375.50 and will go to the Fall City Area Ministerial Association for community needs. Proceeds from the ticket sales were $773 plus a $500 donation will go to various local, state, and national projects. We thank the Thrivent Action Team for the $250 which took care of all our expenses this year. Thank you all for your help!

Attention Thrivent Members
Thrivent Financial will be hosting a performance of “Smoke on the Mountain Homecoming” at the Brownville Village Theater for Thrivent members on Tuesday, July 14. There is only ONE performance this year, and space is limited. The Southeast Chapter has voted to allot 6 tickets to each congregation on a first-come, first-served basis. A sign-up sheet is located on the Info Table in the Upper Room. Deadline to sign–up is July 8! If more than six people request tickets, the other names will be placed on a waiting list in the event that other congregations don’t use their allotted number of tickets.

St. Paul’s at Kaufmann Stadium
The Social Ministry/Evangelism Committee invites the people of St. Paul’s to hit the road for Kansas City and enjoy an evening of fellowship at Kaufmann Stadium. We are planning to reserve a block of seats for the Royals’ game on Saturday, August 8, but we need to know how many we’ll need to meet the demand. Tickets are $14 each if we buy at least 20. Please check out the sign-up sheet on the Info Table today, and let us know if you are interested ASAP. Join us for a great time together later this summer!

Ash Wednesday Worship – Feb. 18 @ 7pm. Join us as we begin our Lenten journey. The sign of ashes suggests our human mortality and frailty. What seems like an ending is really an invitation to make each day a new beginning, in which we are washed in God’s mercy and forgiveness.

News from St. Paul’s – Week of November 2, 2014

In Worship
All Saints’ Sunday is the occasion on which we recall that the church is a body that transcends time, space, and death. This Sunday, you will be invited to write down the names of those you would like to remember in prayer, especially those who have gone on to join the church triumphant; you will also have the opportunity to light a candle in memory of friends or loved ones.

Serving our Neighbors
Thank You to Rita Seeba for delivering the LWR quilts and health kits to Lincoln. 49 health kits and 28 quilts were sent this year! Thanks also to those who donated items and put together the quilts.

FCAMA Thanksgiving Basket Ministry // Donations accepted at St. Thomas Episcopal Church (16th St. and Harlan St.) from November 1–20 for this annual ministry to members of our community. // Baskets will be packed on Saturday, November 22 at 9:30am at St. Thomas. // Distribution will take place on Sunday, November 23 following the 2:00pm Community Thanksgiving Worship service at St. Thomas. // To reserve a basket, call the FCAMA Helpline at (402) 245-6111.
