1 Samuel 2:1-10 — “The Weak Are Strong”
The bows of the mighty are broken, and the faltering are girded with strength. (1 Samuel 2:4, JPS)
I struggle to be the person that I know God created me to be. There are so many times that I say the wrong thing, that I don’t feel like I have done the thing that is the most helpful, that I wish I could do more or be more. But I am not. I am just me and no one else. When I read this text and specifically this passage, it is a reminder to me that God walks with me; in the good times and the bad. Sometimes I feel like I am the bow of the mighty – broken and sometimes I am part of the faltering – girded with strength. It is reassuring to know that I am still a beloved child of God.
Dear God, help me be who you have created me to be. Amen.
