2 Peter 1:1-21
“God Has Given Us Everything We Need to Participate in His Divine Nature”

“By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life.  We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.  And because of this glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises.  These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.” (2 Peter 1:3-4, NLT)

Those who claim that they are no different after salvation than before, but are forgiven and on their way to Heaven. Those who say the spiritually born again believer helplessly keeps on sinning in thought, word, and deed every day; that it can’t be helped. Those who claim these things are calling the Apostle Peter a liar. If we fail, it is neither God’s fault nor His will. He has done all the hard work for us. All we have to do is trust and obey.  Peter says we get to share in the glory of God’s divine nature. I delight in being politically incorrect by saying that there is no other religion that has a god that wants to do all that for us. “Jesus said I am come that you might have life and have it to the full”; not helpless.

“Lord, help us to realize more how much you love us and help us to comprehend and experience coming alive in you.”
